About Sudo Competitions
Sudo Competitions are a great way to showcase your skills and engage with your teams – whether remotely or in-person, there’s nothing quite like some friendly competition to ignite a passion for knowledge.
Our capture the flag competitions are run in a “jeopardy style” fashion and can include any variety of skills and knowledge areas. But be warned, you won’t be able to just brute force your way to victory.. we monitor accuracy as well as total point score.
What is a CTF?
Capture the Flag (CTF) is a gamified competitive challenge where participants attempt to capture as many “flags” as possible by solving cyber and information security related puzzles and questions within a set amount of time.
In a CTF game, you and your opponents will enter the Sudo arena, a fully remote platform, where you will face a variety of challenges from cryptography, to social engineering, python programming and beyond! Each lab is worth a set amount of “flags” and your objective is to collect as many as you can using your skills and knowledge – with a little help from the learning materials provided in the labs.
Red Team vs Blue Team
There are two titles up for grabs when competing in a Sudo CTF. Red Team Winner is awarded to the player with the most flags captured, and Blue Team Winner to the player with the highest accuracy . Every so often we will find a winner who claims both point score and accuracy titles – this is what’s known as a Purple Team Winner – a very valuable team member who is able to reconcile red team practices with blue team defensive strategy.
