Bring your team together with friendly competition

About Sudo Competitions

Sudo Competitions are a great way to showcase your skills and engage with your teams – whether remotely or in-person, there’s nothing quite like some friendly competition to ignite a passion for knowledge.

Our capture the flag competitions are run in a “jeopardy style” fashion and can include any variety of skills and knowledge areas. But be warned, you won’t be able to just brute force your way to victory.. we monitor accuracy as well as total point score.

What is a CTF?

Capture the Flag (CTF) is a gamified competitive challenge where participants attempt to capture as many “flags” as possible by solving cyber and information security related puzzles and questions within a set amount of time.

In a CTF game, you and your opponents will enter the Sudo arena, a fully remote platform, where you will face a variety of challenges from cryptography, to social engineering, python programming and beyond! Each lab is worth a set amount of “flags” and your objective is to collect as many as you can using your skills and knowledge – with a little help from the learning materials provided in the labs.

Red Team vs Blue Team

There are two titles up for grabs when competing in a Sudo CTF. Red Team Winner is awarded to the player with the most flags captured, and Blue Team Winner to the player with the highest accuracy . Every so often we will find a winner who claims both point score and accuracy titles – this is what’s known as a Purple Team Winner – a very valuable team member who is able to reconcile red team practices with blue team defensive strategy.

Whether you are looking to better understand your existing teams, find new talent or simply organise a fun and engaging experience for your staff/students, our Sudo platform can help you achieve your goals:

  • Tailored Challenges: We work closely with companies to understand their specific requirements and tailor our CTF events accordingly. Whether it’s focusing on particular cyber security topics, incorporating specific scenarios, or aligning challenges with organisational goals, we will deliver custom solutions to meet the unique needs of each company.
  • Engagement and Team Building: A CTF event can provide an engaging and interactive platform for individuals to enhance their cyber security skills, while fostering team building and collaboration. By participating in challenges together, teams can strengthen relationships, improve communication, and develop a sense of camaraderie, ultimately boosting morale and productivity within the team.
  • Training and Skill Development: We offer employees valuable hands-on training opportunities to develop and sharpen their cyber security skills. By tackling real-world challenges in our remote environment, participants gain practical experience in threat detection, incident response, vulnerability assessment, and more, enhancing their effectiveness in defending against real-world cyber threats.
  • Identifying Talent: Our CTF events can help identify talent pools within the team. Individuals can showcase their technical abilities, problem-solving skills, and teamwork capabilities, and our in-platform management tools can provide companies with insights into individual strengths to maximise impact within their teams.
  • Promoting cyber security Awareness: CTF events raise awareness about cyber security risks and best practices, empowering both teams and individuals to become more vigilant and proactive in protecting company and personal assets and data. Engaging in hands-on cyber security exercises can help reinforce the importance of cyber security and foster a healthy culture of security awareness.
  • Brand Visibility and Recognition: Companies that host CTF events through Sudo can enhance their brand visibility and recognition within the cyber community. By hosting engaging and challenging CTF events, you can demonstrate your commitment to cyber security education and innovation, and attract positive attention from industry peers and potential customers.
